Salima based Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) has splashed out awards to players who performed well during the 2022 season as one way of motivating the players to do better next season.

At a ceremony that took place at the team's base on Saturday, goalkeeper Blessings Kameza was named best goalkeeper ahead of Jailosi Kapalamu as the two fought for a place to man the post during the just ended season.

Captain Paul Ndlobvu was named best defender following his impressive performance during the season which also earned him a place in the Malawi national football team squad that coach Mario Marinica named for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.

Bernard Chimaimba and Mphatso Filimoni were named best midfielder and best striker respectively.

Each outstanding player received MK25,000.

During the 2022 season, MAFCO finished the season in 5th place and was the only team that won a league match against dominant Nyasa Big Bullets who were runaway league winners.
