Malawi national beach soccer team has qualified for the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals on away goals rule despite losing 6-5 against Tanzania in the second leg match of the qualifiers played in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Malawi went into the match with an advantage having won the first leg 3-2.

The Tanzanians got their revenge in Dar es Salaam, beating their Malawian counterparts 6-5.

The scores were, therefore, level at 8 all over two legs, but it is the Malawian team progressed on account of scoring more away goals than their opponents.

Malawi will now participate at the AFCON Beach Soccer finals to be staged in neighbouring Mozambique in what will be their maiden participation.

The Malawi Beach Soccer National team has since arrived in the country from Tanzania.

According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM), the team will regroup soon to start AFCON preparations for the tournament which will be played in October
