There was plenty of Super League action at the weekend with vital wins for Ekwendeni Hammers, Kamuzu Barracks, Silver Strikers, but TN Stars and Sable Farming suffered defeats that keep them in relegation zone.

At Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday, Ekwendeni Hammers moved out of the relegation zone following a 2-0 win over Sable Farming. Gift Chunga and Chikumbutso Henderson scored goals that moved Hammers to move up to 13th position with 19 points from 23 games.

At the Balaka stadium, Kamuzu Barracks collected the all three points against fellow Malawi Defence Force (MDF) side Red Lions, winning 1-0 with the goal scored by Sammy Chiponda.

At the Karonga stadium, Civil Service United beat Karonga United 1-0 thanks to a Binwell Katinji strike while Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) scored through Stain Malata with Frank Chikufenji on the score sheet for Tigers as they played out to a 1 all draw.

On Sunday, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers came from behind to force a 2 all draw against Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar in a TNM super league match played at the Dedza stadium.

Clement Nyondo and Victor Lungu gave the home team a 2-0 half time lead before Wanderers responded with goals from Vitumbiko Kumwenda and Miracle Gabeya.

At the Kasungu stadium, TN Stars sank deeper in relegation waters, losing 3-1 against capital city side Silver Strikers.

Stars scored the games first first goal through China Chirwa before Chawanangwa Kaonga (2) Uchizi Vunga made sure the maximum points went to the Lilongwe team.

Things did not get any better for Sable Farming on Sunday. The Chiradzulu based side were beaten again, this time by a goal to nil to Moyale Barracks thanks to a Raphael Phiri strike.

Bullets lead the league table with 52 points from 20 games, followed by Blue Eagles who have 40 points with a game in hand over the leaders.

Mafco and Kamuzu Barracks with 38 and 37 points complete the top four, while the three relegation places are occupied by Rumphi United (10 points), TN Stars (12 points) and Sable Farming (15 points).
