There were contrasting fortunes for newly promoted Super league sides with Sable Farming securing a vital win that moved them out of relegation places on the league table while Rumphi United were thumped to remain deeply rooted at the bottom.

Sable scored a goal in each half against Mighty Waka Waka Tigers to win 2-0 at the Chiwembe stadium on Saturday to increase their points tally to 14 from 17 matches.

It is the same number of points that Ekwendeni Hammers have, but the team from the north has played a game more and has an inferior goal difference.

Simion Singa and Humphreys Chimwaza were scorers for Sable.

Up north in a match played at the Karonga stadium, Rumphi United could do nothing to improve their chances of remaining in the elite league next season when they were thumped 4-0 by their hosts, Karonga United.

The home side found the back of the net through Ramadan Mtafu, Josaya Duwa, Gift Kasambala and Allen Chihana.

With the win, Karonga United moved up to 8th position on the standings with 23 points while Rumphi United remain rooted at the bottom of the table having accumulated a meagre 10 points from 18 games.
