Malawi national football team striker Gabadinho Mhango has wasted no time opening his goal scoring account for his new South African club, Amazulu hitting the net in a 2-1 win over SuperSport United.
The Malawian international joined Amazuku after a frustrating time at former club, Orlando Pirates where he was hardly selected for matches, sometimes not even making the match day squads.
He did show his goal scoring prowess in national colours at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon where he scored three times for Malawi with one of his goals regarded as the best goals of the tournament.
But he continued to be overlooked at Pirates on his return and was subsequently allowed to leave the club.
At Amazulu he started the opening league match but failed to help his team beat TS Galaxy in a goalless draw. Gaba was shown a yellow card in the match and was later substituted.
Against SuperSport on Wednesday, the Flames star warmed the bench and was introduced just after the hour with his team losing 1-0.
Gaba took just four minutes to draw Amazulu level before fellow substitute Bongi Ntuli scored the winner,
After two rounds of matches, Gaba’s Amazulu is in third place with four points, the same as Richards Bay (in second), Pirates (fourth), Sekhukhune United (fifth) and TS Galaxy (sixth).
Royal AM lead the standings with six points from two wins while defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns are eight with three points from one win and one defeat.
