Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has appointed Thom Mkorongo as Malawi Women’s national football team coach ahead of the 2022 COSAFA Women’s championship later this month.

The COSAFA Women’s Championship will be held  between August 31-September 11 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and Mkorongo is expected to name a provisional squad to resume camping on Monday ahead of the regional showpiece.

Mkorongo will be deputised by Andrew Chikhosi and Abbas Makawa as first and second assistant coaches, respectively.

The FA has also maintained Chisomo Nakoma as the fitness coach. Phillip Nyasulu has also been maintained as goalkeeper trainer while Violet Bunya and Yamikani Magombo are team manager and team doctor respectively.

The Scorchers finished as runners up at the 2021 COSAFA women's championship after losing 1-0 to Tanzania.
