Malawi national football team coach Mario Mariani Marinica says it is becoming difficult to convince players of Malawian origin plying their trade in other countries to come and play for the Flames.
Malawi is believed to have a number of players in other countries who are eligible to feature for the Flames but choose to represent other nations.
Last year, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) convinced Scottish based left back Kieran Ngwenya to play for the Flames but the full back only featured for the team during an international friendly against Tanzania last year.
According to Marinica, a lot needs to be done to convince players to consider playing for Malawi but said it is proving difficult.
"The players have different reasons for not wanting to play for them but one of the reasons is our FIFA ranking which the players feel will hinder their chances of better offers elsewhere," he said.
