Blue Eagles football club has appointed former Wanderers and Tigers coach Gerald Phiri Senior as there head coach for the 2020/21 season after passing interviews conducted on 9th December.

Blue Eagles has been without a head coach following the appointment of their former coach Deckleck Msakakuona as the Malawi under 17 men's national football team.

Prior to Phiri’s appointment, Christopher Sibale stepped in as care taker coach in the first weeks of the new season which kicked off on 28 November 2020.

Phiri was a successful candidate during interviews which were also attended by Miliyasi Pofera Jegwe and Abasi Makawa.

A statement released by the club on Sunday 20 December 2020 signed by chairman of the club Alexander Ngwala, said Phiri's appointment is with immediate effect.

Phiri will be deputised by Christopher Sibale and Wilson Chidati.
