The much anticipated Capital City derby between Civil Service United and Silver Strikers in the second round of the 2022 TNM super league season ended with the sides sharing the spoils after it ended 1-1 with both goals coming from the penalty spot.
It was a poor game of football not helped by the poor quality of the playing surface at the Civo Stadium.
Kick and rash was the order of the day with no team capable of stringing together more than three passes.
It is the home side that took the lead in the 26th minute through Bashir Maunde who converted a spot kick following a handball incident in the central bankers box.
Civo managed to protect the lead until half time.
In the second half, Silver were awarded a penalty of their own on the hour mark after Civo’s Kelvin Kadzinje handled in the box.
Chawanangwa Kaonga made no mistake, converting for the visitors.
With points shared, the central bankers are on 6th position with 27 points from 17 games while the servants are on 9th with 22 points from the same number of games.
In another match, Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) continued their fine form as they recorded a vital 1-0 win over Red Lions at the Balaka Stadium.
Bernard Chimaimba was the hero for the Salima based soldiers as his goal helped the team collect three points and register a third successive win during the second half of the season.
MAFCO is on 4th position with 31 points while Red Lions is on 11th position with 20 points.
