Capital city giants Silver Strikers football club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thokozani Chimbali says the club  has spent K40 million to extend contracts of its players with most of them expiring in 2022 and 2023.

According to Chimbali, the central bankers have given signing on fees to 29 players to extend their stay at the bankers in orddr to keep the team together for a long time.

"We want the club to be run in a differently from the way it was run in the past where we could wait for a player's contract to come to an end before we start negotiations for a new contract,” Chimbali said.

According to Chimbali, most players are now on contracts that run up to 2022 or 2023.

New contracts have also been given to youngsters promoted from our reserve side.

This year, the bankers have promoted Malawi Under 17 national football team players Chinsinsi Maonga and Frank Chizuze together with Maxwell Paipi, Zebron Kalima, Phillip Banda and Innocent Shema from their reserve side.

Reports indicate that Malawi national football team goalkeeper Brighton Munthali is the only senior player at the club yet to extend his contract and negotiations are still going on with hope that the former Wizard shot stopper will agree a new deal.

The Reserve Bank sponsored side won the FISD challenge cup in 2019 and have challenged their new technical panel comprising of Zambian coach Daniel Kabwe who will be assisted by Mcdonald Yobe and Macdonald Mtetemela to win the Super League and other trophies once the 2020 season kick off.
